10 WWE Superstars Who Could Call Themselves "Mr Summerslam"

5. Edge

WWE.comWWE.comIf you were to say that you thought Edge had the strongest claim to the nickname Mr. Summerslam, it would be very hard to refute. Not only has he competed in ten Summerslam bouts, he is 8-2 at the event, which is truly a spectacular record. It€™s made even more incredible when you consider the fact that he€™s only lost once in singles competition at Summerslam. He won his first Summerslam match teaming with Sable to defeat Marc Mero and Jacqueline. From there he would go on to win and retain the Tage Team, Intercontinental and WWE Championship in four out of his eight Summerslam wins. He€™s beaten names like Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Batista, Matt Hardy and John Cena at the WWE€™s summer celebration. One of his biggest victories at Summerslam was as a member of the tag team Edge and Christian. They went into the first ever Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match as champions facing off against two of the best tag teams of all time, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz. Not only did they put TLC on the map, but they walked out with the titles. Edge is a big part of why the TLC Match has a whole PPV named after it. His biggest victory at Summerslam was probably when he beat John Cena in 2006 to retain the WWE Championship. That victory came two years before what would be his final singles match at Summerslam, losing to Undertaker in epic fashion. It€™s sad that he was forced into early retirement, but he definitely had one hell of a career, and his Summerslam record is emblematic of his career. He was a star, he improved every year of his career, and he definitely deserves to be considered as Mr. Summerslam.
