10 WWE Superstars Who Came From Parts Unknown

7. The Missing Link

Prior to entering WWE in 1985, The Missing Link was one of the most mysterious and captivating wrestlers in the country. He competed for both Mid-South Wrestling and World Class Championship Wrestling, the latter being the territorial promotion in which he became part of Skandar Akbar's Devastation Inc. and achieved a great deal of success. The mix of face paint, hairstyle and the manner in which he carried himself caught the attention of the audience and made him one of the most over competitors in the entire business. It was only a matter of time before the Missing Link wound up in New York, competing for Vince McMahon's WWE. His time with McMahon's company would be anything but memorable. Despite the fact that he had a ready-made gimmick for the cartoon-like product that the owner so greatly coveted at that point in time, the Missing Link failed to make much of a splash. He was traded among managers Bobby Heenan and Jimmy Hart, lost more matches than he won (with most of those wins coming against the likes of George Wells and Rick McGraw) and was generally treated like an over-hyped enhancement talent. His stay in WWE was short-lived as he left the company just seven months after joining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGbJrrmy9m8 Like he would do far too often, McMahon failed to take someone else's idea and allow it to succeed in his company.
