John Bradshaw Layfield often says it on commentary. If you built a sports-entertainer from the ground up, hed look just like Randy Orton. Randy Orton is a complete anomaly of pro wrestling. The man literally has every single thing that a company like WWE covets. An incredible look, preferred size, exquisite in-ring skills, the ability to deliver a solid promo and has incredible pedigree as a third-generation star to boot. The thing Orton has always lacked is consistency. There is perhaps no marquee WWE talent that has experienced the kind of rapid up-and-down success that Randy Orton has. Since his Evolution days, Orton has been to the top of the mountain, to the bottom of the bottomless pit and back up again. Hes had drug problems, backstage behavior problems and a litany of injuries peppered among his incredible 12 World Title reigns. More so than every other competitor on this list, there is absolutely no reason that Orton should be wallowing in mediocrity but right now, he is. From a heel turn in 2013 that was forced on WWE fans to a lackluster Evolution reunion, Orton has effectively lost all the momentum he began building in 2010 at WrestleMania XXVI, when a raucous crowd propelled him to a resounding victory over his former Legacy teammates Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Simply put, reactions cant be forced. Until Orton stops trying to force people to dislike him, or figures out how to get people to genuinely dislike him, The Viper will be operating at only 50% of his best. And when Randy Orton is at 100% of his best, there are few in the world who can touch him.
