Jerry Lawler's brush with death is one of the most terrifying and public ones on the list, as it happened live on an episode of Monday Night Raw. During a match featuring Team Hell No v The Prime Time Players, the commentary gets noticeably silent and the crowd's attention is obviously not on the match. Jerry Lawler had collapsed due to a heart attack, and was being attended to by Dr. Michael Sampson, WWE's ringside physician. Earlier in the night, he had teamed with Randy Orton to take on CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. As a part of the match, he took Ziggler's trademark ten elbow drops which many cite as the cause of Lawler's heart attack, as it was determined to not be a blood flow issue. To this day, Lawler often comments on it whenever Ziggler does his signature elbows. Lawler was rushed to hospital, but within two days he was taken off sedation, taken off ventilation and he was able to blink, nod and squeeze with his hands. Eight days after the initial incident, he returned home to Memphis to recover. Seven weeks later, he returned to commentary on Monday Night Raw, and he still takes independent wrestling bookings outside of WWE.
