Alex Riley has carved out quite a niche as one of WWE's lead broadcasters on all their panel shows, but he was once a promising wrestler who looked like he was on pace to surpass his mentor, The Miz. Riley's first taste of fame came during his time on the original incarnation of NXT. Miz was his pro, and the two seemed to hit it off very well. Riley helped Miz during some of his biggest feuds against the likes of John Cena, but he seemed to disappear shortly after turning babyface. The crowd was behind Riley, but management clearly was not. He had charisma, the looks and a decent set of skills between the ropes, but none of that helped him from fading into obscurity for a few years. Perhaps being a broadcaster is what Riley was meant to do all along, but nobody can deny that he was pushed too fast and abandoned far too early in his career. It's not impossible to imagine that Riley could eventually return to the ring, but it seems more likely that we will see one last match from Hulk Hogan than ever seeing Riley back on the roster.
I have been a writer for Bleacher Report for several years, and am now happy to also be a writer at What Culture! I do my best to contribute anywhere I can in a positive way, and that includes in my writing. Some people call me The Doctor, but Chris is fine.
