Alberto Del Rio is known around the world for being one of the best technical wrestlers in the business today, but WWE put him in a top position before the fans knew how much he had to offer. In a short five years, Del Rio accumulated four World and WWE titles, a Money in the Bank win, a Royal Rumble victory and numerous matches headlining pay-per-views against some of the biggest stars in WWE. It's an impressive resume, but the last two years of his run felt like there was nothing left for him to accomplish. His character became boring and his matches became repetitive. Booking Del Rio to win the Rumble and the WWE title in his first year was supposed to catapult him to the position he held in Mexico's CMLL promotion, but all it did was burn him out before he had a chance to peak. Del Rio's release certainly came as a shock to many, but there's no denying that he can make a great living working for other promotions now that he can claim to have conquered the best WWE had to offer.
