Khali's release from WWE surprised very few people. He had been used sporadically for several years with no real storyline or purpose for his presence and he was barely able to move, let alone put on a good match. There was some value to Khali's size when he had more mobility, so perhaps it was wise for WWE to get a World title run out of him while he still had something to offer, but the fact that he never came close to winning the belt ever again shows that he never should have had it to begin with. There were some moments of brilliance during his time with Runjin Singh, but all that was because Singh was so talented, not because Khali was anything special. WWE has giants who can move and perform on a much higher level than Khali, rendering his size useless. If WWE had only booked him as a special attraction who came in periodically to wreak havoc and then leave before fans caught on to his weaknesses, he could have been an important part of the roster.
I have been a writer for Bleacher Report for several years, and am now happy to also be a writer at What Culture! I do my best to contribute anywhere I can in a positive way, and that includes in my writing. Some people call me The Doctor, but Chris is fine.
