10 WWE Superstars Returning In 2017

7. Shelton Benjamin

Benjamin had been out of WWE since 2010, but was set to make his grand return this summer to SmackDown. It was a feel good story, but fate is a cruel mistress, as the company's doctors suddenly found out he had a torn rotator cuff. This injury could keep him out of action possibly well into 2017, but he's still expected to make a return, which is nice to hear. Stay away from him fate!

Even though Benjamin is 41 years old, he’s still in phenomenal shape, and doesn’t seem to have aged a bit. Now, there is a large segment of the audience who isn’t familiar with his work in the least, but he shouldn’t have much trouble making a name for himself again if given the chance. While fellow formerly released mid-carder Jinder Mahal has been struggling on Raw to gain any traction, Rhyno is doing pretty well for himself over on SmackDown. Let's hope Benjamin gets the Rhyno treatment. That's probably never been said before.

There has also been rumors going around of a Varsity Club-like stable involving American Alpha, Dolph Ziggler and Benjamin, which could come into fruition in the coming months. It's just one of many things they can do with him, as fans are eager to see him once again on the national scene.

While WWE dropped the ball on Benjamin multiple times in the past, hopefully they give him one more honest chance to show he can make an impact.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
