10 WWE Superstars The Undertaker Should Have Faced At WrestleMania Instead

3. Sting - WrestleMania 31

It's not often that the stars align in the exact way you'd been hoping they would for decades, but that's exactly what happened at WrestleMania 31. Two decades of anticipation and hopefulness almost paid off as WWE's Phenom and WCW's Icon were on the same card for the first time in WWE history... and WWE completely missed the opportunity.

Sting's arrival brought with it a multitude of possibilities; at the top of that list was the dream match against The Undertaker. Yet the creative team thought it'd make more sense to pit him against Triple H, call it the 'dream match we never thought we'd see' and make a perfectly decent feud about a veteran vigilante demolishing the injustice of The Authority all about the long-dead WWE/WCW animosity.

A match against Sting would have been the perfect way to bring 'Taker out of hiding following the loss of The Streak. In hindsight, 2015 was his last truly great year in terms of in-ring performances, so a 'Mania showdown with 'The Vigilante' could have been epic - especially because Sting could still move really well.

The stars never aligned for these two again and it goes without saying that WWE missed the boat on this one.
