The old King Of The Ring tournament was usually used to elevate a midcarder but that needn’t be the rule for the women's version.

Instead, it could be used to rehabilitate an existing star. Some will balk at the suggestion Becky Lynch needs rehabilitating. She is, after all, still a massive fan favourite. She’s arguably the biggest star in WWE right now, one of the biggest stars in all of wrestling.

Thing is, that star has been in gentle decline since WrestleMania. It’s not Lynch’s fault. She’s been tasked with elevating Lacey Evans rather than facing more worthy foes.

She’s also been paired onscreen with real life boyfriend Seth Rollins at almost the exact point he hit a self sabotaging nadir.

Meanwhile, we all could have used a few more blistering straight fire promos.

It turns out ‘The Man’ was more fun in adversity than as champion. The solution? Find a way to get the belt off her then let Triple H/a McMahon/ Heyman/Bischoff/whoever is kayfabe in charge now try to block her from entering their shiny new tournament.

Then she can triumph over adversity again by winning the whole shebang!
