Per recent Dave Meltzer reports, Rusev is at the end of his tether and near the end of his contract with WWE. The rumours have begun that he will be making the switch to AEW at the earliest opportunity.

WWE creative don’t really seem to understand or care for Rusev and managed by accident or design to crush the organic success that was Rusev Day. Still, with even the likes of Mojo Rawley being offered new improved contracts, they’re presumably keen to hold onto any superstar who has currency with the fans.

They could of course give Rusev a title push to keep him happy but the main event scene is already overstuffed with bright, dynamic, young talent like Baron Corbin and Shane McMahon.

King of The Ring, with its rich lineage of former winners, could be exactly the sort of trinket to convince a want-away star that honestly, Vince does care and sees bright things for you in the future.

Maybe they could even get Aiden English back to introduce His Majesty King RuRu and Her Majesty Queen Lana to the ring?
