10 WWE Superstars Who Don't Dress The Part

Since the dawn of Rusev Day back on 26 September 2017, Aiden English has found a way to finally capture more TV time by serving as manager, partner, and hype man to the Bulgarian Brute, the latter of which involves more singing than we’ve seen since The Artiste’s NXT days. The extra singing has led to additional ring time for English, and in turn, WWE fans have been able to witness more of his physical abilities. However, while his work on the mic and in the square circle have improved, his costuming has not. Although he may be The Purveyor Of The Manly Arts, he is far from blending in with anyone on The Great White Way or in combat sports.

English’s mainstay remains his operatic background. Outside of the singing, though, how would the casual viewer know he is supposed to be akin to a Broadway actor? WWE believes an overused long coat and scarf do the trick. No fancy suits. No robes. No flair at all. He doesn’t have to look like a caricature of a singer or actor, but dressing more to the part would certainly help paint a clearer picture of his character. Even bring back his Ivy cap full time would be a plus.

The Artiste also fights like wrestler from the bygone era. Though hardly any of his ring gear has paid homage to the past since his Vaudevillian days, his moves and mannerisms have remained the same and announcers still reference his vintage style. The New Era of WWE boasts a large roster of wrestlers who dress down, but if the WWE Universe is going to be constantly reminded that The Artiste is an old-school performer, perhaps he could be presented in a classical light.
