10 WWE Superstars Who Don't Dress The Part

3. Apollo Crews

WWE uses a couple of monikers to promote Apollo Crews, but none of them are fitting.

His first name is that of a Greek god, yet he does not stand out from the average wrestler. There is no flair to his attire, which mostly consists of a signature shirt and bland trunks. His entrance music is more fitting for a 1980s fight film, and his hand gestures are straight out of WWE 2K18’s CAW collection. One would think a little more pageantry would be spared for him to hone in on his god-like nature.

The second aspect of Crews’ character focuses on his Olympian-like abilities. Again, nothing about his appearance suggests Olympian over, say, powerlifter. He is a powerhouse who can do flips, but a great move set is far from unique in 2018. Even Kevin Owens does a moonsault. To sell him as an athlete of Olympian quality, perhaps Apollo could dress up a bit. While he doesn’t have to go out and buy prop medals, he could do something as simple as switch to a singlet.

All in all, Apollo Crews dresses like he is still up-and-coming on the independent scene, rather than moving onto the grand WWE stage. A little touch, to point at the origins of his name or to the suggested quality of his in-ring work, could help draw a clearer idea of where he fits in in the WWE Universe, and also help him stand out on his way to stardom.
