10 WWE Superstars Who Got Too Much Too Soon

6. Sheamus

One of the most reliable and convincing men in the business, Sheamus has been a mainstay on the WWE roster for over a decade. Underappreciated by many within the IWC, the Irish ass-kicker deserves more flowers than he gets.

But things certainly got off to a rocky start.

‘The Great White’ emerged on ECW in June 2009, racking up the wins and using the developmental brand to, you know, develop. Four months later, he was promoted to RAW and at Survivor Series he won the elimination match for his team. It became apparent that the WWE machine was behind the ‘Celtic Warrior’ and fans weren’t really on board yet.

This only worsened when one month later - less than two months after joining RAW and six months of being introduced to the WWE universe - Sheamus defeated John Cena at Tables, Ladders and Chairs in a Tables match to become the WWE Champion. Even the ending to the match was unconvincing, which gave fans little reason to see Sheamus as a legitimate top guy.

He lost the belt pretty quickly, but after facing Triple H at WrestleMania (not a bad spot at all), he was a two-time WWE Champion by June 2010. Nowadays, Sheamus is a respected name on the roster, but that first year felt a little too rushed due to WWE’s desperation to make a new star.
