10 WWE Superstars Who Have Been Hurt The Most By The Wild Card Rule

Ali just might be one of the biggest "What ifs" of 2019.

While he isn't doing terribly at the moment, there is little doubt that he'd be doing far better had he stayed healthy on the road to WrestleMania 35 and didn't miss the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. It's very possible the push Kofi Kingston ended up getting was originally meant for him.

In other words, Ali could have been WWE champion by now but is instead making infrequent appearances on SmackDown Live without a solid sense of direction.

Even after the Wild Card Rule was born, it looked like WWE was interested in giving him television time after airing vignettes focusing on his background for weeks. Once he finally resurfaced on SmackDown, nothing seemed to change and he was right back to where he was before.

He's scored a few key wins in that time (including one over Intercontinental champion Shinsuke Nakamura), but none of them have amounted to anything.

He's perhaps the easiest person on the roster to cheer for and is remarkable in the ring to boot. There really is no excuse for WWE to not be doing more with him right now.

After the decent albeit underwhelming year he's had so far, the WWE Draft better be kind to Ali.
