10 WWE Superstars Who Helped Define Extreme Rules
7. Triple H
Triple H has appeared in three blockbuster matches at Extreme Rules, but here’s a fact for all the Game’s naysayers out there; he’s never gone over at the PPV.
In 2010, he went down to Sheamus in a Street Fights, which, for better or worse, thrust the Irishman in to the main event scene. That match actually saw Hunter written out of action for ten months, which is about as big a rub as a veteran could give an up-and-coming talent.
Then in 2013, in a rubber match with Brock Lesnar, Triple H lost inside a Steel Cage. That result was exactly what was best for business, after the Beast Incarnate had lost to the Game one month prior at WrestleMania 29.
And then last year, in another battle for the ages, he revived one of the greatest factions in history when he, Orton and Batista faced the Shield in a six-man tag. In what turned out to be one of the Shield’s final matches, the Hounds of Justice won clean to cement their budding legacy.
So much for the golden shovel…
