10 WWE Superstars Who Need To Revert To Their Old Gimmick
2. Ezekiel Back To Elias
The bloom is off the rose with Ezekiel, which has been pretty fun up to a point.
Elias has performed the role admirably, dialling up the 'aww shucks' nature of his character well, but when you aren't the star of the show when it comes to your own gimmick, you know it's got a pretty slim sell by date.
The work Kevin Owens did in getting the gimmick over cannot be overstated, and you only have to see the timid reactions Ezekiel is getting now that their feud seems to be over. Unfortunately for Elias' younger brother, he just isn't the most dynamic of competitors, and when the major plus of the gimmick is gone, he just feels flat and uninteresting.
It's time to get the beard growing again and bring back 'The Drifter'. There is a great spot on the card for a midcarder who can draw immense heat or generate loud cheers that lead to a weekly challenge, and Elias had that down pat. As Ezekiel, he is walking a dangerous tightrope where his name popping up on Main Event wouldn't be surprising.
We heard 'Zeke Speak', and for a while it was amusing. But it's time for us all to once again Walk....With Elias!
