10 WWE Superstars Who Overcame Career Threatening Injuries

10. Joey Mercury

After returning from a Wellness Policy suspension in late 2006, Joey Mercury returned to teaming with Johnny Nitro in MNM. At December 2006's Armageddon event, MNM, The Hardy Boyz, London and Kendrick and Dave Taylor and William Regal were in a four-way ladder match for the Tag Team Championships. During the match, Joey Mercury was struck in the face with a ladder, his nose and orbital bone broken. He immediately left the match, was rushed to an emergency room and received thirty stitches. Returning too soon (sporting a protective face mask), Mercury developed a substance abuse issue while recovering and wrestling at the same time and was released from the company in March 2007. Of course, when you see Mercury in J & J Security on Raw these days, just remember where he was physically nearly a decade ago, and be amazed.
