10 WWE Superstars Who Turned Heat Into Magic
4. Vickie Guerrero
In the wake of Eddie Guerrero’s passing, the WWE decided to help out his widow, Vickie, by keeping her on as a manager and sometime authority figure. Eddie, of course, is one of the most beloved wrestlers of all time, so it’s only right that they branded his bereaved wife as a shrill, manipulative, uber heel for the entirety of her career.
Every Vickie Guerrero segment went roughly the same: she would enter the arena to a cacophony of boos, incite further ire on opening her mouth, then really set the crowd off by assisting whichever heel she was partnered with at the time. For someone with little showbiz experience especially, Vickie was out of this world at the job. No one made crowds more irrationally angry, no one was more gleefully petty and irritating. Every element of her character, from the shrill voice to the perpetual scowl to the stomping tantrum of a walk, was designed to whip up heat, and whip up heat she surely did.
Vickie has now made the jump to AEW, where her first appearance was met with rapturous applause. As someone who threw herself into the business in such trying times, it’s only right she be celebrated - but if they have any sense, they’ll turn her heel soon enough.
