10 WWE Superstars Who Walked Away At Their Peak

10. AJ Lee

AJ Lee is the latest member of the active roster to walk away of her own will. She officially announced her retirement at the start of April - and while we all perhaps expected it to happen sooner or later given the nature of her personal life - it still came a little out of the blue. AJ is only 28, certainly had her best years ahead of her and was the outstanding Diva in the WWE for the last couple of years of her run. People can speculate all they want about why she decided to walk away following WrestleMania 31. But her relationship with former WWE favourite CM Punk likely has something to do with it. It's public knowledge that Punk and the company aren't on the best of terms, and with lawsuits progressing around her, AJ was in a tough spot. She's certainly made enough money from her stay in the business and with a man like Punk by her side, the pair are likely set for life. If you're to believe NXT star Bayley's Instagram account, there could even be a little one on the way. She'd been a WWE Divas Champion three times, and holds the record for longest reign in the title's history with a 295 day stretch as champ. It's a shame she's gone, but people gotta do what they gotta do, right?
