10 WWE Superstars Whose Careers Were Shortened By TLC
Would Edge still be wrestling today if it wasn't for TLC matches?
Tables, Ladders and Chairs has been a mainstay in WWE since its inception back in 2000. In that first match, Edge and Christian successfully defended the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz at SummerSlam. It's fair to say, the trio of teams tore the house down and left the WWE Universe hungry for more of the same. Looking back, they will no doubt agree that they were the innovators of a certain artistic element that this match needs in order to be jaw dropping, but you have to wonder if they regret it or not. The bumps the superstars took and danger of certain spots during those early matches especially defies belief. Watching those matches, you question whether they were being paid enough to take such risks. Buh Buh Ray Dudley famously led the charge that questioned their respective pay offs for certain TLC spectaculars. Without those TLC matches in its record books, of course WWE would be a poorer place. The match has its own PPV these days with its sixth edition taking place this Sunday. But would the superstars that have ever stepped on a ladder or went through a table prefer it if the match never existed?
