10 WWE Superstars Whose Careers Were Shortened By TLC
4. Matt Hardy
The ladder aspect of this match was added to get the best out of the Hardy Boyz, and it certainly worked. The Hardyz took part in the first three WWE TLC matches, and like the Dudleys, failed to win any of them. The pair made the switch to TNA in 2011 and have competed in just one 'Full Metal Mayhem' match. That took place earlier this year when The Wolves got the better of Matt, Jeff and Team 3D. An honourable mention must go to Lita in all of this. She made a number of fleeting appearances in TLC matches over the last 14 years with great effect. Who could forget Edge nearly knocking her out cold at WrestleMania X7 when he speared her, banging her head off a laying ladder. Matt's career in WWE initally went well after the Hardyz split up. His 'Verson 1.0' stuff was refreshing and entertianing. After the infamous Edge/Lita angle played itself out, Matt's career sort of did too. He was shunted to ECW before a rivalry with his brother brought a glittering career with WWE to an end. Currently, Matt and Jeff have resurrected the Hardy Boyz team in TNA. Matt is heading towards his 41st birthday so the full effects of that 'Full Metal Mayhem' match will have taken its toll.
