10 WWE Superstars You Never Knew Wrestled In Japan

9. Edge And Christian

Years before coming into their own in the WWE, The Rated-R Superstar and Captain Charisma wrestled on the notoriously hard Canadian independent circuit making long, dangerous trips for small payoffs. It was no surprise then that during this time the duo jumped at the chance to tour with the newly formed New Tokyo Pro Wrestling in 1998, debuting at the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. In his autobiography Adam Copeland on Edge, the future hall of famer said he €˜felt like Godzilla wearing a blond wig€™ as he wandered around the streets of the Japanese capital. Edge would have hardly felt any less strange when the ring announcer billed the debuting team as €˜Adam and Gei, Canadian Hockey€™ instead of Adam and Jay, The Canadian Rookies (a slight improvement). On their next tour with New Tokyo Pro the fake brothers won a tournament to become the first (and last) New Tokyo Pro Wrestling tag team champions with the company folding shortly thereafter and the famed Canadians starting in the WWE proper.
