It may be hard to imagine now, but at one time, for a long time, it was inconceivable to think about a match involving the former Rockers in which Shawn Michaels was not the bad guy. He threw his partner through a window for Christ's sake!

For years, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty were one of the most popular tag teams in all of WWE. So much so that when the team broke up, and Shawn Michaels threw Jannetty through the window of the Barber Shop, fans were immediately (and seemingly forever) on the side of Marty Jannetty.

During the years that followed, Jannetty would come in and out of the company multiple times, but whenever these two locked-up, it was Jannetty that had the overwhelming fan support.

So it was surprising to see how the roles were reversed when these two squared off again briefly during the 1996 Royal Rumble. By this time, Michaels was massively popular and would soon become the WWE Champion. On the other hand, Jannetty's struggles and constant unexpected departures had taken its toll on the fans and the crowd was now solidly behind the other half of The Rockers for the first time in history.

The company used this as an opportunity to slowly move Jannetty into a being more villainous character, and eventually partnered him with Leif Cassidy (aka Al Snow) as the heel team 'The New Rockers'.
