10 WWE Superstars You Won't Believe Defeated The Undertaker

After achieving great success in the tag team ranks alongside his brother Jeff, Matt Hardy went on to become a breakout singles star on SmackDown in 2002. From there, he enjoyed several runs with the Cruiserweight, United States, and ECW Championships.

In other words, a loss to Hardy is nothing to be ashamed of, but the timing of his win over The Undertaker in late 2002 couldn't have more bizarre.

The Deadman was in the midst of a feud with then-WWE champion Brock Lesnar and was preparing to challenge for the championship inside Hell in a Cell at No Mercy. Undertaker was also having matches with Matt at the time, beginning on Sept. 12 when the self-proclaimed Sensei of Mattitude beat 'Taker by disqualification following interference from Lesnar.

That alone wouldn't have been anything out of the ordinary, but Hardy then followed that victory up with another three weeks later on the Oct. 3 episode of SmackDown when he pinned Undertaker in a Falls Count Anywhere match, again thanks to The Beast Incarnate.

While the win did wonders for Hardy, it was odd booking considering 'Taker ultimately lost to Lesnar at No Mercy and didn't square off in a one-on-one rematch with Matt until April 2009.
