What defines "best" time?

Well, for the last nine entries, your writer's subjective opinion. In terms of the Mega Powers, the bottom line was the bottom f*cking line.

A beautifully crafted tale that kicked off in late-1987 reached a crescendo in the build to WrestleMania V in 1989, Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan's WWE Championship feud was particularly ingenious because all of the simmering rage only existed in the mind of the Macho Man. Luckily he clued the audience in his through his expressive eyes every time 'The Hulkster' came anywhere near Miss Elizabeth.

When Savage snapped, he did so literally over the bruised body of his bride. Regardless of Hogan's innocent intentions, the Champion was unleashing a full year of pent up rage rather than just a moment of Macho Madness. Hogan and Elizabeth were permitted to be surprised, appalled and devastated, while the audience were trusted with the intelligence of seeing it coming all along.

WrestleMania V drew 767,000 buys - the highest in the event's history at that point, setting a record that would stand for 10 years until Steve Austin, The Rock and the industry's unprecedented rebirth topped it at WrestleMania XV.

By every metric, this was the best.
