SmackDown's tag team division needed all the help it could get in 2005, and thus the main roster call-up of Joey Mercury, Johnny Nitro, and Melina was much-needed. Collectively known as MNM, the trio wasted no time in taking the tag titles from Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero in their debut match on the blue brand.

This immediately established them as a threat to the rest of the roster, and although they went on to lose the straps another two times in the next year, they always found a way to regain the gold. Mercury, Nitro, and Melina had tremendous chemistry as a trio and helped bring the division to new heights, which is why they should have stayed together a lot longer than one year.

Almost exactly one year removed from their arrival in WWE, Nitro turned on Mercury and moved over to Raw with Melina shortly thereafter. They amounted to great success on Monday nights, though Mercury wasn't as fortunate, returning to developmental following the breakup.

MNM had one more run together in the final few months of 2006 and into 2007 for a feud with The Hardy Boyz, but they came up short in every one of their encounters. WWE didn't get as much out of the tandem as they could have, despite what they saw in Nitro as a future breakout star.
