10 WWE Tag Teams Where Both Members Were The Marty Jannetty
6. Prime Time Players
There are plenty of short-lived tag teams in wrestling, as pairing unremarkable stars together to bring them relevance is commonplace. Titus O'Neil and Darren Young had the potential to be such an example but found moderate success together.
After forming The Prime Time Players as a heel team in NXT, they made their way onto the main roster and performed as a duo vying for the gold. Soon, they started to perform in light-hearted comedy skits and found themselves quite adept at it. Here, they gained a repour with the crowd, and despite a few break-ups and reforms, stuck together, even capturing Championship gold. But it eventually came crumbling down.
Neither of the performers felt like big-time players - despite what their gimmick would have you believe. Young's failed attempts to capture the Intercontinental title with Bob Backlund as a manager proved how little faith the company had in him and Titus is now known more for his clumsy antics than being a solid worker.
Right now, Young is part of the NWA, and Titus remains with WWE, even gaining the Warrior Award and acting as this year's WrestleMania host alongside Hulk Hogan. Despite these accolades, he's not going to be WWE Champion anytime soon.
