It was shocking to see Goldberg make light work of Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, and perhaps even more shocking two months later when he repeated the feat during the Royal Rumble.

The second of which, in particular, left many fans scratching their heads, wondering exactly how much humiliation WWE was prepared to heap on one of its prized assets in the name of helping a 50-year-old part-timer relive his yesteryear glory.

But fast forward a few months and all is right with the WWE universe, with Lesnar back where he belongs as Raw's unstoppable world champion.

So how did happen? The story of Lesnar underestimating his opponent - not once, but twice - simply worked thanks to some stellar character work from the 'Beast Incarnate' (and his advocate), who proved that his defeats were mere anomalies with a dominant display of his own at WrestleMania.
