10 WWE Title Matches Nobody Asked For

Bret Hart was doing just fine as WWF Champion before the almighty Hulk Hogan decided to show back up and sweep Vince McMahon off his feet in 1993. Hart represented a different kind of champ, and fans were getting on board with his athletic, in-ring focused main events against guys like Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon.

WrestleMania IX changed that when Hulk swanned back in and took the title from Yokozuna to close out the show. The very first King of the Ring pay-per-view then featured a rematch between Hulk and Yoko for the belt, although that match wasn't the main event. Thankfully, McMahon saw sense and focused the show on Bret's tournament win instead.

Still, the slow pace of Yokozuna vs. Hogan harked back to a bygone era the WWF had moved on from in Hulk's absence. Once the nostalgic buzz of Hogan's return had worn off, and fans at King of the Ring were audibly disinterested in the dated style of the 'Foreign Heel vs. American Hero' clash.
