10 WWE Vs. NJPW Matches Fans Dream About
2. John Cena Vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
Hiroshi Tanahashi is the man responsible for New Japan's current boom period. After a dark age of terrible booking and lackluster talent that plagued the company in the mid-2000s, Tanahashi's natural charisma, babyface fire, and talent gave New Japan an identity that it has used to rebuild itself.
The most obvious comparison among Tanahashi's Western comparisons is John Cena. The man held down the fort in WWE for over a decade, and even as he's stepped into an elder statesman role to focus on outside projects, he has still left a massive hole at the top that's yet to be sufficiently filled.
As both men are in their 40s now, and both are loyal stalwarts of their respective promotions, this dream match is likely never to happen. However, if it did, fans would be enamored by the sight of the two great top babyfaces of their generation squaring off. Tanahashi is considered one of the greatest workers of the 21st century, and Cena's only gotten better with age at putting matches together. With Cena's trilogy with AJ Styles being a classic, a program with the Ace would be just as, if not, better.
