Hideo Itami got a taste of the main roster at WrestleMania 31, where he took a guest spot in the pre-show André The Giant Battle Royale.
His severe shoulder injury soon afterwards scuppered any chance of him being moved up from NXT, but now he has returned there’s every chance he could earn a position on the main roster as a small but fierce competitor whose merciless kicking style reminds audiences of Daniel Bryan.
Finn Bálor has similarly been robbed of the chance to position himself at the top of the card by injury, and his in-rings skills are beyond doubt. That both men have similar stories would set them up perfectly for a programme culminating at WrestleMania.
The chance to see a souped-up version of Bálor’s terrifying demon entrance would be worth the spot on the card alone.
