In the same vein as Santino Marella – but with a wider window – how does someone who spent 13 years on WWE’s main roster not get a one-on-one match against Randy Orton?

Like Marella, Ryder was largely an undercard guy during his time in WWE, with bouts of midcard success. He also was largely a babyface during his time with the company, while Orton more often has been either a straight heel or a babyface/tweener with a strong edge. So how do we never get Orton just flattening Ryder on a random episode of Raw or SmackDown?

We all know this would have been an easy win for Randy, and they probably would have figured out a way for Orton to counter the Rough Ryder into an RKO outta nowhere, so why not just do it?

Aside from two Royal Rumbles and a battle royal, Orton and Ryder inexplicably teamed up on a 2011 SmackDown to defeat Wade Barrett & Dolph Ziggler. File that under random matches that we’ve all clearly forgotten.
