10 WWE Wrestlers Randy Orton Has Never Faced One-On-One
5. Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe’s run on the WWE main roster can be described as a
lot of promise and potential, but overall disappointing.
True, he won the United States Championship twice, but after invading Raw as “The Destroyer,” Joe settled into the pack and only had sporadic moments where he really threatened to break through.
Still Samoa Joe versus Randy Orton should have been on WWE’s white board as something to slot in at some point, and they never did. They shared the ring for nine televised matches (including two Royal Rumbles and four multi-man matches), but we never got a hard-hitting match pitting the Viper against the Samoan Submission Machine.
The end of Joe’s time was especially frustrating, being sent to the commentary desk (and killing it), getting released and then rehired, winning the NXT Championship and then losing it and getting released again – all in the span of 20 months.
Yet another “what could have been”…
