In January 2016, WWE.com made the rare choice of confirming internet speculation with regards to the impending arrival of four significant New Japan Pro Wrestling stars. AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were all apparently WWE-bound, much to the excitement of a broader wrestling universe exposed to the quartet through NJPW's global expansion and - in AJ Styles' case - a lifetime and a half with TNA.

Eight days after WrestleMania 32, all were here. Styles' electric Royal Rumble debut was bettered by the spectacular NXT arrival of Shinsuke Nakamura 48 hours before the 'Show Of Shows'. Two years on and Anderson himself has joked about their main roster irrelevance whilst snaring multiple guest spots on Network show Ride Along due to their infectious personalities. It's a good job their craic rubbed off on their Irish pal too...
