The Rock and Triple H worked together hundreds of times on the road, whether it was the late ‘90s when they were both chasing to get to the top of the card with the Intercontinental Championship on the line, or regularly winning/losing the WWF Championship to each other in 2000.

There was genuine heat between the two during these periods too, with both constantly trying to outperform each other on the mic and in the ring. But a deep level of respect grew between them after wrestling each other night after night, with Triple H calling Rock ‘a great adversary, great inspiration and great friend’, and Rock saying about HHH “Thank you for being a friend, thank you for being a brother. Again, I love you, man.”

With that level of respect both were keen on having one last match together in a one-off promo on SmackDown in October 2014, with Rock teasing HHH with “What if you and I, one more time, main evented WrestleMania?” With The Game quick to reply “You tell me the WrestleMania time and place Mr Hollywood.”

It’s been seven years since that promo and we’re still waiting for that big-time match, with Rock refusing to tear himself away from his Hollywood commitments to make it a reality.
