10 WWE Wrestlers Who Are Having A Very, Very Bad 2020

10. Shinsuke Nakamura

Oh, Shinsuke, what happened to you? The magic of that NXT debut seems like a lifetime ago, a career as NJPW’s most charismatic performer even more so. Nakamura had a tendency to phone it in every now and then when working back in Japan, but he has perfected the skill in WWE. The Artist has a Royal Rumble win and two midcard championship reigns in his locker, although good luck if you can remember anything from the latter.

Nakamura’s run with the WWE Intercontinental Championship ended in January of this year, as he dropped the title to a marauding Braun Strowman. An anti-climactic end to a disappointing reign is one thing, but not even getting a proper rematch for the title? Instead, Nakamura was relegated to henchman status, helping the criminally underused Sami Zayn win his first singles championship in WWE.

Two years on from challenging for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, Nakamura was left without a dance partner for the biggest show of the year. Not having a match at WrestleMania isn’t unique to the Shinsuke, but this is one of this generation’s great pro wrestlers we’re talking about. Nobody is twiddling their thumbs quite as absent-mindedly as Nakamura. It has been a poor 2020 for the guy, but does it matter? Probably not.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
