10 WWE Wrestlers Who Benefited Most From Turning Heel

You only need to compare the success that followed CM Punk's 2009 Money in the Bank win with that of the previous year for evidence of the good turning heel did for the Straight Edge Superstar's nearly-floundering career.

The highlight of his first World Heavyweight Championship win was probably a filler feud with JBL, a last-minute opponent for the newly-drafted Raw superstar after Batista, John Cena, and Chris Jericho were all otherwise engaged.

But when he interrupted Jeff Hardy's Extreme Rules title celebrations with his second cash-in ambush a year later, Punk - now proselytising over the dangers of substance abuse - was suddenly an altogether more legitimate main event force.

And he remained in that position all through his 434-day title reign, and pretty much until the moment he decided enough was enough.
