Records are made to be broken, even in this most horrendous of years.

2020 has been a pretty wretched year so far, an understatement and a half. The world has been ground to a halt by horrendous circumstances, rendering complaints about entertainment largely irrelevant. Things may get worse before they get better.

But New Day didn’t get this far with the power of positivity, and searching for the light isn’t the worst idea right now. There is still enough time left in 2020 for history to be made, for memories to be created and for records to be broken. That is largely the reason for records being made in the first place, it’ll take more than a global pandemic to stop the tides of history.

Besides, Vince McMahon is the absolute king of passive-aggressive record-breaking. Not a year passes without Michael Cole being instructed to sing the praises of some new highpoint, be it a lengthy title reign or something else. If it can help wipe unwanted names out of the record books, even better. CM Punk and Demolition are just the tip of the iceberg.

2020 is going to go down in history as one of the most wretched years on record, but these 10 superstars (well, nine, actually) might find a reason to smile.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
