10 WWE Wrestlers Who Could Break Records Before 2020 Ends
8. The Miz — Most Intercontinental Championship Reigns
Sticking with petty decisions to break records held by top AEW stars, what price The Miz returning to the secondary title picture at some point during 2020? The A-Lister might be tied up in nostalgic tag team duty with John Morrison at the moment, but don’t bet against the duo splitting up sooner rather than later and Miz once again battling for a title he has done more for than most in recent years.
The Miz and the Intercontinental Championship go well together. In truth, the secondary championship probably represents his apex, past glories notwithstanding. There is an old school feel to Miz in many ways, a stripped-back in-ring style that plays second fiddle to aesthetics and character, and that traditional wrestling combination works well with a title as steeped in nostalgic tradition as the IC strap.
All this is well and good, but there is another factor that plays into Miz’s potential record-breaking. The current holder of this record? That’ll be ‘Le Champion’, AEW’s Chris Jericho. As with Andrade and the US title, don’t put it past WWE giving Miz a couple of shotgun reigns in order to remove Jericho from this particular record. As things stand, Miz has eight reigns to Jericho’s nine.
