4. The New Day

It's hard to believe there was ever a time when people hated The New Day. But, dear god, this record-shattering trio really was hated back in the day (pardon the pun).

Xavier Woods and Big E were floundering during the mid-2010s, and Kofi Kingston was doing well enough but not moving up the card. That's when Woods pitched for them to become a trio, leading to a Main Event appearance as a heel-ish faction. Sadly, creative didn't like their serious tone and rebranded them as heroic gospel singers, which went down about as well as a voice crack during a high note.

The fans hated their smiling babyface gimmick, creating the iconic "New Day Sucks" chant and rejecting them wholeheartedly. But then, something beautiful happened.

The three wrestlers played into their rejection by turning heel and having fun. They became hyperactive menaces in an organic, genuine way, and the fans lapped it up. In no time, the trio were so popular they became babyfaces again and let their personalities shine.

The New Day were truly hated, but allowing Woods, Kingston, and E to be themselves made that a thing of the past. Now, the thought of disliking them even a little is wrestling blasphemy.
