Adam Cole has been a sensation in 2019, evolving from one of the stars of NXT last year, into the star of NXT (ably stepping in to fill the void left by Tommaso Ciampa) and one of the best wrestlers on the planet this year.

Although he failed in his quest to claim the ultimate prize in NXT at TakeOver: New York, alongside Johnny Gargano he put on what is my favourite match ever, earning 5.5 stars from Dave Meltzer in the process too. They followed it up with another 5+ star performance at TakeOver: XXV where Cole emerged victorious as the new NXT Champion.

Following a riveting rubber match with Gargano in August in Toronto, Cole solidified his position as NXT top dog whilst The Undisputed Era subsequently reigned supreme, claiming all the gold.

It speaks volumes that Cole was entrusted with leading NXT's challenge to All Elite Wrestling on the opening night of the Wednesday Night War, and he duly delivered with a barnburner of a title match with Matt Riddle, remaining champ in an absolutely stacked men's division.

Cole is arguably one of WWE's MVPs as the year comes to a close, defeating Daniel Bryan in a title retention on SmackDown, following that up with a quality contest against Seth Rollins on Raw just a few days later, producing one of the most jaw-dropping spots in recent memory with Tommaso Ciampa to close out WarGames, and defeating Pete Dunne the next night at Survivor Series in yet another showcase performance.

Adam Cole is unquestionably a superstar in the eyes of Triple H, and he's caught the eye of the big boss through recent performances and brand warfare. If Raw or SmackDown beckons next year expect a rocket to be strapped to his back whatever Adam's goal, bay bay.
