10 WWE Wrestlers Who Had Their Momentum Repeatedly Halted By Major Injuries
2. Samoa Joe
Unlike the last two entries, Samoa Joe never really seemed to have a chance to get his feet off the ground.
Joe, who'd earned over a decades' worth of acclaim over the years for his outstanding work on the independent circuit, debuted on WWE's main roster in January of 2017. In his first eight months there, the Samoan Submission Machine would earn a major behind-the-scenes endorsement from then-Universal Champion Brock Lesnar following their title bout at Great Balls of Fire. Unfortunately, it would not be long after this that Joe would suffer a knee injury, which kept him sidelined for a couple of months.
He would return in October of that year, only lasting about two months before suffering a foot injury that would shelf him for another 3 months. Upon returning, Joe would fail to maintain momentum, likely due to being perceived as "injury-prone". A little over a year after returning from his foot injury, Joe would once again go down, this time with a broken thumb, in late 2019.
Joe would resurface in November of 2018 as a color commentator, a role that he has thus far thrived in. His in-ring return in January 2020 would be extremely short-lived, as he'd suffer a concussion during a tag team match against Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy on RAW. Worse yet, Joe would suffer another concussion during a February 2020 commercial shoot, which saw the Authors of Pain double-powerbomb him through a table.
As of this writing, Joe's in-ring future remains unclear.
