10 WWE Wrestlers Who Had Their Momentum Repeatedly Halted By Major Injuries
1. Tegan Nox
Finally, we come to the inspiration for this list, Tegan Nox.
Nox signed to WWE in April of 2017 and was announced as a competitor in the first-ever Mae Young Classic. Apparently, she was penciled in to win the event, but it would never come to be, as she would tear her ACL before the tournament even began. Given how devastating that sort of injury is, it took Nox a year to return from the injury.
Upon returning, Nox was announced as a participant in the second Mae Young Classic. Surely, she would win this time, right? Well, we'll never know.
During a quarterfinals match with Rhea Ripley, Nox performed a standard Tope Suicida to the outside. Nox landed awkwardly on the ring ramp, and it was instantly apparent that something was wrong. She tried to soldier on for a few moments before crumbling to the mat in agony in one of the most genuinely-heartbreaking moments in wrestling history.
She later revealed on Twitter that she'd suffered a torn ACL, MCL, LCL, and meniscus, as well as a dislocated kneecap. Ow.
Nox triumphantly returned to NXT in June of 2019, mostly competing in tag team matches before finally challenging for the NXT Women's Championship in July of 2020. Not long after, tragedy would strike once more, as Nox would re-tear her ACL during rehab.
At just about 26 years of age, Nox has already suffered more catastrophic injuries than anybody reasonably should. Hopefully, when she does come back, she can finally achieve her true potential and be a major player for the company for years to come.
