10 WWE Wrestlers Who Lost Their Mojo
7. Carlito
Of all those genetically-blessed Ruthless Aggression rookies who debuted between 2004 and 2007 - among them John Morrison, Chris Masters and Kenny Dykstra - Carlito was perhaps best-placed to reach the WWE promised land.
Why? Because he didn't just rely on his ability to get things done in the ring; he also had natural charisma, a brilliant heel persona and, until it got old, a pretty cool gimmick too (in case you took a sabbatical around this time, he basically just spat chewed-up apple in his opponents' faces).
The early days, including his inaugural feud with John Cena and one or two Carlito's Cabana segments with wrestlers well above his pay-grade, were pretty awesome. He always held his own, and best still, he was getting good reactions from the crowd.
What happened after that should perhaps be blamed on a combination of WWE's careless booking - his Unforgiven 2007 defeat to Triple H was almost terminal - and his own complacency. He just began to look like he didn't really care (although that could have been brilliant character work).
