1. RKO/Diamond Cutter/Ace Crusher
Before getting to the history lesson, one thing should be made clear right off the bat: the Ace Crusher/Diamond Cutter/RKO is an absolutely fantastic finishing move. It's not surprising that so many people have used variations of the move over the years. It's easy to execute, can be countered easily and looks impactful. It has everything you'd want from a finisher. So where did the move come from? Well, the cutter came from Japan but this time it wasn't a Japanese wrestler who invented it but Johnny Ace, who WWE fans may remember as John Laurinaitis, Vice President of Talent Relations and John Cena punching bag. The move, dubbed the 'Ace Crusher' was taken by Ace to Diamond Dallas Page and called the 'Diamond Cutter'. That was then stolen by Randy Orton who called it the RKO. It is Orton's version which has become the most over and Randy always seems to find new ways to perform the move during matches, catching people out of midair, countering their own finishers into the RKO and so on. DDP has said in interviews that he encouraged Orton to use the Diamond Cutter but he shouldn't forget that it was not him, but Johnny Ace, who invented the move in the first place.
