10 WWE Wrestlers Who Suddenly Vanished

1. Lex Luger

Lex Luger's WCW arrival was perhaps the most famous in company history (and most infamous in WWE lore), but any viewers exclusively locked in with Vince McMahon were left to effectively receive his SummerSlam 1995 run-in as a less-than-fond farewell.

Luger may have still been 'Made In The USA', but he was a million miles from the main events that earned him the moniker in the first place. An Allied Powers unit alongside Davey Boy Smith saw him freefall throughout the year, and a heel turn for partner Davey Boy Smith to set up the Brit for an Autumn run against Diesel left him in the midcard wilderness as a result.

For more than just contractual happenstance, Eric Bischoff's lowball offer only came about because of Sting's suggestion. Luger taking the deal and providing the maiden Nitro with a bombshell worked better than anybody could have imagined - including Vince McMahon. The Chairman had taped a series of Luger matches and interviews for future use that never made air. The entire situation had wrongfooted McMahon completely - the silent treatment was all deemed his former pet project worthy of as the Monday Night War began with a bang.
