10 WWE Wrestlers Who The Fans Truly Hated
7. Buff Bagwell
Wrestlers have been despised by the fans and bounced back from it - there’s always the chance to reinvent yourself in this business. When you almost single handedly ruin Vince McMahon’s plans, though, there’s little coming back from that.
After McMahon bought up WCW, word is he intended on continuing to run WCW Nitro on a Monday, with SmackDown as the WWE-centric show. These plans were scrapped in an instant after a Raw crowd turned viciously on a match between Bagwell and Booker T on an episode of Raw.
One of the participants enjoyed a lucrative career in WWE as a wrestler and a commentator; the other did not. Fans had no interest in watching the posturing Bagwell, and when rumours swirled that his mother had called head office to complain about her son’s travel arrangements, the damage was done. He was turned into a joke, and swiftly moved on.
Bagwell struggled to find a home following this, and has drifted around the independents since. You only get one chance to make a first impression: Bagwell gave it his all, and was met with an unequivocal “no thanks” from the fans.
