10 WWE Wrestlers Who Went Backwards In 2017

8. Sasha Banks

Speaking of former champions who were once the most important performer on their brand, Sasha Banks has also had a 2017 to forget. The Boss was a non-entity for most of the year, kicking around doing nothing of note on RAW other than turning up to challenge the champion every now and then.

The Boss even managed to dethrone Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship, only to lose the belt straight back to her. The arrival of Asuka has seen Banks slip further down the ladder when it comes to babfyace women on the flagship show.

There aren’t many lazier ways to fix an issue than by simply ‘turning them heel’, but this clearly needs to happen in the case of Sasha Banks. The turn seemed to be coming at various points in 2017, but the trigger was never pulled. The Boss has gone from being a megastar-in-waiting to an afterthought at best.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
