10 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Better In The Indies
1. Sami Zayn
The decade Sami Zayn spent on the independent scene, under the guise of El Generico, was chiefly remembered - like his first year on Raw - for an intense, for-the-ages feud with Kevin Owens (né Steen). The primary difference was that, in Ring of Honor, he was presented as an altogether more serious wrestler - despite wearing a luchador mask.
Zayn was given a makeover when he signed up with WWE, which was understandable given that comic characters - however popular with the audience - have traditionally struggled to made it beyond jobber status. Unfortunately, the Underdog from the Underground has instead been treated as just that: a perennially down-on-his-luck dark horse, whose main event chance has so far eluded him.
